Firewall Setup Guide

Your firewall must allow port 80 activity in order to use Remote VirtualBoss. In most situations, you will not have to do anything to make your firewall work with Remote VirtualBoss. When you run the Remote VirtualBoss setup program, the firewall used by Windows (Windows Firewall) will be automatically configured to work with Remote VirtualBoss.

If you have installed a third-party firewall beyond what is included with Windows, you may need to configure it to allow users on the outside to access Remote VirtualBoss. You just need to tell your firewall to allow port 80 activity.

Port 80 is the default port used by web servers. It is used by 98% of all web servers. In the unlikely situation that you need to change to a port that is different from 80, you will need to tell your firewall to allow activity on that port. You would only have to use a different port if your Internet service provider prevents you from using port 80.
